Frist Art Gala
Watkins College of Art | Frist Art Museum | 2024 | Event Branding, Narrative
Every year, the Frist Art Museum hosts a themed gala centered around an exhibit. I chose the exhibition "Light, Space, Surface" because it investigates the art of light and space using highly polished surfaces often described as “finish fetish.” I drew inspiration from the materials utilized by Southern California artists in the 1960s and 70s, who created works that explored perceptual phenomena: our understanding of form, volume, presence, and absence through light, whether seen directly, reflected, or refracted through other materials. The collateral pieces include an invitation and RSVP with matching envelopes, a menu, a booklet outlining the exhibition and the Frist’s donors, and table numbers.
